What is Podcast? Podcasting is a digital audio file that is available to download on any computer or portable media player. This allows students to listen to lecture outside of the classroom.
What are the advantages or disadvantages to podcasting? The advantages of podcasting is that the teacher can now have more interaction with his/her students. Studies show that humans retain more information they have heard rather than information they have read. Teachers can combine reading activities with a podcast to help visual learners and auditory learners. Disadvantages with podcasting is not every student has a mobile devise and the cost of getting one is expensive. Another disadvantage is that teachers may try to slack on their jobs and use the podcast in the classroom.
What are the current results of education who have used podcasting? The current results of educators who have used podcasting is very positive. The student no longer has hours and hours of homework. It allows the student to learn at their own pace. It also gives the teacher more interaction time with the student.
How would you begin podcasting? To begin podcasting, I would make sure I knew how to use a podcast. Make sure I knew what lesson I wanted my podcast to about. Next, I would do a practice podcast. Finally, I would make sure all my students had a way to access the podcast and send it home with them.
